Energy Saving Tip #1: Replace conventional thermostats or digital thermostats with Programmable thermostats. Programmable thermostats will allow the AC equipment to be placed on a time schedule and setback temperature setpoints during unoccupied or reduced occupancy times whcih can greatly reduce your HVAC utility costs. Also quality programmable thermostats have an intelligent recovery feature that allows the thermostat to calculate the time required to recover the space temperature after an unoccupied time. This feature allows for the space temperature to be at setpoint at the desired time and you don't have to adjust the time schedule to compansate.
Energy Saving Tip #2: Replace incandescent light bulbs with compact flourscent's(CFL), LED's or induction lamps. This will not only reduce your lighting utility cost( which can be as much as 50-80%), but also will reduce your lighting maintenance cost due to CFL's, LED's and Induction lamps far exceed the life span of an incandescent bulb(this can be 5 to 8 times as long if applied properly).
Energy Saving Tip #3: Replace Metal Halide lamps/fixtures with Induction lamps/fixtures. When compared to Metal Halide lamps of similar wattages, the Induction lamps last up to 10 times longer, has a higher color rendering, starts instantly and does not require the warm-up period that metal halide does. With the higher color rendering generally the Induction lamp wattage can be reduced providing an optically more pleasing light output then a higher wattage metal halide lamp. This will provide energy savings and an increased visible light output, not to mention the additional security aspect with the instant restrike.
